The Dragon Tail Shawlette

By Linda Jensen

I took my inspiration from the “Pfeilraupe” scarf by Alpi Alpenrose.  I just could not see myself hand knitting all those garter stitch rows, so I made a few changes and converted it for a Bulky knitting machine.  I twist my own yarns from a vast stash for a worsted weight, but I just completed this shawlette with 2 skeins (about 400yds) of Loops & Threads Soft & Shiny, color was “Blue Lagoon”.

Details:

Machine: Bulky, 9.0mm

Tension: 8

Yarn:    2 skeins Soft & Shiny by Loops & Threads (from Michael’s), color Blue Lagoon

OR      1 skein of Caron Cakes

OR      1 skein of Lion Brand “Shawl In A Ball”  and 2  skeins of Paton’s Glam Stripes                             (I knit 1 strand of each together to get a shimmery effect)

Size: One Size Fits All, Shawlette measures 24” at widest point and 60” long and has an asymmetrical hem.

Gauge: Not too important for this project, but I got 5sts X 4rws = 1” hung vertically

Directions:

E-Wrap cast on 70sts (L35 – 0 – R35)

K 2rws

Begin short rowed hem:  COR, COH
