Come by and see some new yarns that will inspire you to do some summer knitting.  I, myself, am working on a new design called “Arachne’s Web”.  See my prior post on that one.  I am happy with the first version (the Hot Pink one).  Now I want to explore what else I can do with the design for other versions.  I know that when my customers buy my patterns, they want more than one style they can knit from the one basic design, so I want to dive in and create more versions, such as a longer one, one with sleeves, etc.

OK, so back to tomorrow.  I will be bringing in more cones and lots more skeins, so if you need some novelty yarns or yarns to mix up, I should have plenty to see.  I have pulled out some mixers to spin up more Designer Skeins too.  You know you want them!

Hours: 9am-3pm

Prices: $3/lb for regular yarns, $2/skein for special skeins, $5/cake for Designer Mixes

In Hawthorne, CA< really our tract is called Del Aire

Follow signs when you get close to the cross-streets of El Segundo, Aviation or La Cienega.

A new interesting design to be worn over a tank or camisole top. Done on a Brother Bulky knitting machine using thick and thin yarn. I saw the woven portion on Pinterest and thought I could do that on a machine. I knit the front and back yesterday (attempt #1) and hated it. So, overnight, I slept on it and woke up energized to try it again to correct all my mistakes. I unraveled what I knit yesterday and re-knit and now I like it. If I get some good feedback on it, maybe I will write the pattern and put it up on my Etsy site. What do you think?

I will have my outside yarn sale tomorrow and for the next 7 Sundays.  You can bring yourself and as many friends as you want.  I am putting out a lot of skein yarns and I have spun up some really beautiful Designer Cakes in brilliant colors – reds, teals, aqua blues.  Maybe I should call them Designer Cake Mixes because I do spin up 3-6 different yarns to make them.  I did a sample shawl with two cakes so you can see how the yarn makes up.  Such a bargain at $5 per Cake.

I have added to the cone yarn bins and of course the skeins.  I will have FABRIC also. Plus, if you only need a little, I have stuffed a lot of balls together for $1 project bags.

My Shawl Gone Wild kits are a sensation – luscious, high-end yarns to create your own for only $25, plus I give you a free pattern that you can use many times more.

Times tomorrow: 9am-3pm

Follow the signs to the corner of Isis and 122nd St. in Hawthorne CA.  Enter through the back gate next to the garage.

Wear a hat, sun screen, a cool drink and bring BAGS!  I take cash, check or any debit/credit card.

2017 LA County Fair Entry #2 May 18, 2017

The Tribal Collar!  I got inspired from the 2017 International Wearable Expressions exhibit at the Palos Verdes Art Center to do this Tribal Collar.  I created my own yarn and used my own pattern for the Loop-D-Loop necklace, modifying it wider so I could run a piece of upholstery cording through the middle.  Once I complete this as a base, then I started adding the decorative elements:  a black roving type Merino Wool with hand-tied, real red/black feathers from U-Knitted Nations called “Plume”; coordinating pink, black and red beads, spaced apart with matching and hand cut wool felt circles; and fringes from Euro Yarns called “Bird Of Paradise” which was black, pink and red feather-like tufts on a base of black netting.  It took me quite awhile to do the perfect yarn selections, but here it is and I absolutely love it!

2017 LA County Fair Entry #1 May 17, 2017

I have finished my LA Co Fair entries for this year’s competition.  I will be photographing and putting them here for you to see.  Here is the first one, The Golden Dreamcatcher.

I used my “Dreamcatcher” pattern, which is a free form style of knitting motifs and adding each different one as you go along.

I used five different yarns, some combined, some solo, to get the effect I wanted.  They were: 1) a gold ribbon with gray/brown edge yarn, “Luna” from Silk City Yarns, mixed with a metallic gold boucle with slubs of gray and rust for the inner circle; 2) the gold “Luna” with a skinny gold metallic for the Sunray section; 3) a brown wrapped in gold with “nuggets” from Universal Yarns called “Elite” for the rick-rack trim; and 4) a brown/gold composite yarn from Lucci called “Paris” along with the skinny gold metallic yarn for the bottom trim.

It probably looks like it should be in a Viking movie as it has the look of being a piece of armor, but I assure you it is only a top to be worn over a black turtleneck and pants.

This is one of my patterns for sale on my Etsy shop, so if you want to try it, you can get it there.

This announcement is for Southern Californians only!  Sorry the rest of the world!!

I am continuing to thin my huge stash out, bag by bag (yes, these are 100 gallon bags).  I have just added a huge selection of eyelash, metallics and more Designer Cakes that has kept my yarn twister busy this week.

But being unpredictable Mother Nature, she is not going to be nice to me this week as the weather forecast says “Rain” for Sunday. Never fear though, I have moved my Yarn Sale inside my house. There was a will, so I make a way.  As always, I will be open on Sunday from 9-3, but come in through the front door this time. I have some nice eyelash and metallic yarns (gold, silver) for your consideration, plus some NEW Designer Cakes in Black & Metallic, corals, purples and lavenders, reds, some with metallic and some with eyelash, and beautiful TEALS and sky blues (OK, I am keeping some for myself!) – the possibilities are endless. But space is limited in the house, so no fabric this week. I did put together some exquisite shawl kits for $25 with high-end yarns. Come and see them!
